Breeden Construction announced today that it has been retained by Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority to construct 62 new units of affordable housing as part of the South First Street redevelopment project. The project will meet HUD and VHDA standards and guidelines as well as the requirements of the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS)—a voluntary standard for energy-efficient buildings. The $13 million apartment project is now underway and is expected to be completed by Spring 2022. Breeden Construction is responsible for all construction and work-site management, including a commitment to deliver the project on schedule and within budget.
"We couldn't be more excited to see the South First Street neighborhood’s revitalization become a reality," said Brian Revere, President of Breeden Construction. “It is our professional motto to build inspiring places, and South First Street will be such a place.”
Breeden Construction is extremely familiar with the Charlottesville community, serving as general contractor for a number of current projects including Berkmar Landing Apartments, a Breeden Company asset, and Brookhill Apartments.
