Charlottesville, Va. — The University of Virginia has officially unveiled the Ramon W. Breeden Athletic Grounds, recognizing the extraordinary generosity and lasting impact of Ramon W. Breeden, Jr., founder of The Breeden Company. The newly named athletics precinct honors Mr. Breeden’s $50 million personal gift to his alma mater, one of the largest contributions in the University’s history. The transformational donation was equally allocated to the McIntire School of Commerce and Virginia Athletics, supporting critical advancements in academic and athletic facilities. A 1956 graduate of the McIntire School, Mr. Breeden has long credited his UVA education as foundational to his success, instilling the confidence and leadership skills that shaped his career. His gift reflects both a deep sense of gratitude and a commitment to creating opportunities for future generations. The Breeden Athletic Grounds are home to premier athletics facilities and will support hundreds of student-athletes, providing modern spaces designed to enhance performance, education and leadership development.
For The Breeden Company, the recognition underscores a proud moment for both the organization and the Hampton Roads community, celebrating a self-made leader whose investment will benefit the University of Virginia for generations to come.
